Acquiring Another Form

Industriv is becoming a magazine.

Not instead of the archive, and certainly not because the archive is finished. It is not. The magazine will provide another place for the conversations, personal histories, images and first-hand accounts that cannot always be contained within a catalogue entry.

The new publication is being developed by Vadim Gordon, creator and editor of Industriv, together with Alex Milazzo, founder and editor of Heavy Music Artwork and a longtime friend.

Industriv magazine will feature detailed interviews and original editorial with the artists and bands who established the industrial tradition, the people who sustained and transformed it, and the new practitioners currently pulling it in directions that have yet to be properly documented.

Musicians will not be the only people questioned. Labels, designers, photographers, producers, promoters, writers and other figures responsible for the culture surrounding the records will also be included.

The magazine will remain rooted in industrial music’s foundations while following its connections to noise, EBM, experimental electronics, dark ambient, power electronics and whichever adjacent disturbances warrant keeping.

The first issue is currently in development.
